I could ask for no greater thrill than watching my wife create her artistic vision. With no bias, I have learned worlds about her talent, perspective, and her inherent ability to express through photography. Humility required her to ask myself to write a bio for her website, a task which I am more than happy to perform. Her photography, minimalist by nature, always seems to capture the defining moment of a person, place, or object. Her focus is on the natural movement, that integral moment when the guard is down and the soul is expressed. Heathers work revolves entirely around the truth of a moment, a childs dirty hands, the pride of a groom, or the exhausted contentment of a new mother. This has been apparent in all of her interests, from her documentaries in conjuction with The Duke Documentary Department, to her photography of our animals, family, and friends. Each situation given the right amount of attention, the careful tending of one who truly believes in the power of an image.  The birth of our son Eoghan produced within her a new perspective toward early childhood and family photography and it is her heart that drives her in this, her chosen medium. It has been said before, many times and in many different ways, that there is a difference between a photograph and a moment that will evoke a memory at a glance. Never in my life have I realized that more than when I met and married my wife Heather Benton. Since then it has been my pleasure and fortune to be her doting assistant in this endeavor.

Thank you,
Nicholas Benton
